Buckley sits by my knee for about an hour each night, quietly waiting for a treat. (I keep them under the couch.) He’s not sure when it’ll come, he just knows it will, and he has the patience of a pet rock.

I wanted to show you his trancelike state, but I fumbled and hit the video icon instead of the camera one. That was just enough to snap him out of it, and I caught him tracking me instead, right before he attacked. This is how much he hates my phone.

Neat moment at the Webbys last night. Fresh off the $1.1 billion sale of his company, David Karp was there with his mother, Barbara. Though I’d never met her before, Barbara came over to my seat and gave me the world’s biggest hug. She kept saying: “I am so, so proud of you.”
I said to David: “Your mom just made me feel like the most special guy in the world.”
He said: “That’s how she’s made me feel my whole life.”

This is so lovely! I was fortunate to be able to meet Barbara in NYC years ago, when a bunch of us got together. She gave me the sweetest little vintage pig salt and pepper shakers. (Buckley has knocked them off their shelf twice now, but they’re ok!)

This is the office where I worked in 2007. That’s me on the bottom left corner, hard at work making the Meth Minute 39 series for Frederator Studios ( who were at the time developing a little show you may have heard of called “Adventure Time”).
See that long-haired guy all the way on the right side? That’s David Karp in the preliminary stages of inventing Tumblr. At this point, the only people who had heard of Tumblr are in the room. A lot can happen in 6 years! But don’t worry, everyone… he knows why we all love Tumblr and he’s not going to let it get ruined! I got a feeling.

Awesome.

This was the year I joined Tumblr. Living way up in Seattle, I felt like I’d stumbled onto a well-kept secret because there weren’t that many people here then, and those of us who were here were all following each other, for the most part. It felt like a small town.

It’s been a blast watching it grow. Change is good, embrace it always.

I’m watching an episode of Kitchen Nightmares (my first since watching the Amy’s Baking Co. one) and this one takes place in Seattle. My neighborhood actually. Yanni’s in Phinney Ridge.

They just showed a shot of where I work. All those pictures from my desk were taken from the building on the left there. Fun to see!
