My sweet little 18 year old cat Indy isn’t doing so well. The vet diagnosed her with feline hyperthyroidism and stage 2 kidney failure, so this subcutaneus drip is my nightmare for the forseeable future. To say I’m not very good with needles is an understatement.

I just now managed to do it all on my own though, and as the vet said, it’s mind over matter. After a couple of false starts, with the drip fluid spraying all over, I managed to get the needle into the scruff of her neck, and give her her daily dose.

Then it’s on to the oral medicine. Right now she’s so listless, so it’s fairly easy to get this done without too much squirming. But honestly? I can’t wait until she fights me tooth and nail. It’ll mean she’s back to her spunky former self, and that’s all I’m hanging onto at this point.

She weighs 4lbs. so I was thrilled to see that she’d gotten some of her appetite back this morning, and actually ate some of the food I had out. She had a lot to choose from.

I can’t wait until she’s walking all over my keyboard, blocking my monitor and sitting on top of me. I’m counting on it.
